Cell Broadcast Center (CBC)::

Using Cell Broadcast Center (CBC) one can broadcast a single message to all mobile users who are in an area as small as a cell, and to all subscribers who are in the entire network of an operator. All handsets in which the Cell Broadcast channel is activated, receives the broadcast message. The SMS messages are sent point-to point, Cell Broadcast messages are sent point-to-area meaning here the messages are sent to all mobile handsets in a particular area instead of a particular destination number. Also, other advantage of Cell  broadcast technology unlike SMS service is, messages are broadcast in real time.

Cell Broadcast was defined in 1993 in phase 2 of the GSM standard. The first commercial system was launched in March 1998 in Lebanon.

With US government emphasizing on requirement of Cell Broadcast Center in an operator’s network in its WARN (Warnings, Alerts and Response Network) Act, US and other country operators slowly started understanding the requirement and necessity of Cell broadcast System.

 TeleDNA Cell Broadcast Center

By understanding the true potential and future roadmap of Cell broadcast technology, TeleDNA developed TeleDNA CBC system which is a state-of-the-art product with many advanced features like integrated GIS (Geographical Information System), local as well geo redundant systems for high availability, various interfaces towards external applications/agencies who want to broadcast messages, subscription and charging modules for providing subscription based paid services.

Using TeleDNA Cell Broadcast Center the operators/external agencies can offer various services both  free  services  like  emergency  alert  service,  public  alert  service, promotional  services and revenue generating subscription based services like news headlines, live cricket score update etc.

Since cell broadcast allows real time broadcast to a large number of subscribers as well as broadcast to a specific geographical area makes it a perfect means of emergency alert. With the help of integrated GIS system the operator can use cell broadcast center to broadcast the emergency alerts/warnings which are specific to a geographical area (Ex: Tsunami warnings in coastal areas, flood warnings to specific area etc.)

CBC’s reach out to millions of users  in seconds  makes it a perfect bearer for pushing promotional messages. The geography specific broadcast of messages guarantees better promotion for the classifieds/ads compared to normal SMS based campaigning in which the advertiser will not know whether the recipient belong to that particular area and will turn out to be a positive hit. (Ex: Sending promotional message about restaurant menu/offers to all mobiles in that particular area during lunch/dinner time will definitely result in increase of customers)

By using the fact that only the handsets in which the particular Cell Broadcast channel activated, the Cell broadcast center can be used to provide subscription based services like live cricket alerts, news alerts, horoscope etc which users can opt-in by paying subscription fee.  The real time nature of cell  broadcast will make certain services like live cricket alerts more meaningful where the users will indeed get alerts in real time unlike SMS based services where real time delivery cannot be guaranteed.

With the increase of mobile subscribers every day the cell broadcast center will be one of the best way to reach out to a huge number of people in real time. The Cell broadcast Center is shifting slowly to “MUST HAVE” from “NICE TO HAVE element in an operator’s network

TeleDNA is fully geared up with its state-of-the-art Cell Broadcast Center which is easily scalable, high available, ready to integrate platform to address the operator cell broadcast center requirement which will generate revenues apart from addressing basic need of emergency alert/warning system
