Linksys and TeleDNA
announce alliance to provide a cellular wireless
carrier based Public WLAN solution
A
major milestone towards convergence and seamless
mobility in the wireless industry
Linksys, a leading provider
of broadband, wireless and networking hardware
for the Home, Small Office/Home Office (SOHO),
and Small/Medium Business (SMB) corporate environments
and TeleDNA a wireless technology startup that
focuses on IP based wireless intelligent network
architecture (IPWIN) today announced a Memorandum
of Understanding according to which, the companies
will partner in providing an innovative solution
for carriers to deploy public WLAN networks
in public hotspots like airports, resorts, lounges,
hotels, train stations and beaches using their
existing core network infrastructure. The solution
will enable the carriers a much cheaper way
of providing high-speed Internet access to their
existing customers using a "single subscription".
The solution will make use of the carriers existing
core network, which already provides roaming,
subscription management and billing services.
As part of this alliance,
Linksys and TeleDNA will jointly market and
provide the innovative solution to carriers.
Linksys will provide the expertise and the WLAN
components such as wireless access points, network
interface cards and broadband routers. TeleDNA
will provide the technology to link these public
access point zones to the cellular operators
core network. " As we launch this key patent
